Waiting for Present: The Amazon Kindle 8.9-inch 4G HD Fire

As a writer, it's very important for me to have the ability to write. Tools are necessary in order for this to happen. Paper, pen, computers, cell phones, tablets, etc. It's also important to be able to write at any time. There are tools for that as well.

My husband, God bless him, knows the importance of my writing tools. That was why over a year ago, he got me the first generation of the Amazon Kindle Fire. I loved it--other than how it's only a wireless device--and not a 4G device. That's my one and only complaint. So, this Fire only helped me to write in 80% of the areas in which I write, but not all. Therefore, in September, just before my birthday, when we found out about the new Fire, the Amazon Kindle 8.9-inch 4G HD Fire, he ordered one for me. I told him that would cover birthday and Christmas this year. He laughed and told me it was a business expense so it didn't count. (again, bless him!)

Two nights ago, my hubby got the email I have been waiting for: YOUR AMAZON KINDLE FIRE HAS SHIPPED.

Victory!

He checked it out online just to make sure--and it was true!

I tried to be calm for him, but inside, I went nuts. "Yay!" I vocalized. Inside, I did a dance, shrieked, and ran through the house. (I figured if I really did those things, he would find me a little weirder than normal and tried to compose myself.)

Needless to say, I have to play more of the waiting game. Sigh. Thank God I've matured through the years and have learned how to play it better each year.

The two new sleeves (so I can switch them with moods, as I do with my cell phone cover), the orange cover, the screen protector sheets, the wireless keyboard, and my purse all await its arrival.

So, when will I get it? I will let you know.

This is a big deal to me. I cannot wait to be able to write and journal anywhere and everywhere.

Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9" News

A couple of weeks ago, I shared how my husband bought me the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9" (for Christmas) and how I am thrilled about it. I am hoping to get it the last week of November or the first week of December--and am quite impatient.

I have the Amazon Kindle Fire 7", the 1st generation of the Fire and have LOVED it. I would recommend it to everyone. I give it 9 stars out of 10.

Well... I decided I am even more impatient for a keyboard to go with it. So, I bought one on Amazon today. It will show up well before the Fire HD 8.9" does, but I can use it with the Fire I have now and with my cell phone! (How cool is that?!?)

So, now, I am even more excited to have portable writing stuff I can take around the world at any time. It will make my writing easier and I will be able to get more done. This is why I am excited.

The Fire has already changed how I write. Preparing to get the latest Fire, I have changed even more--and am now a paperless writer. (That still boggles my mind.) Technology is pretty amazing. What a blessing.

Etc. Etc. Etc.: Other Random Thoughts

* I am craving pumpkin. It must be the time of year.

* Today, I went to make my yearly: buy-new-clothes-since-you-have-some-clothes-a-decade-old shopping run. I try to do this every fall and spring. Today was my chance. I love Kohl's. What amazes me every year is how my tastes change. Granted, I can only buy what colors they have, but I did not anticipate liking Fall colors: dark orange (paprika), brown, green, dark purple, browns. It makes me sound like a 70's child. (Oh, wait. I am!)

* Also, I am used to being able to easily find long-sleeved tops at this time of year. I am a Colorado girl, after all. I have been on the hunt for weeks now. I finally found the ones I got at Kohl's. I've gotten the same brand and style shirt three years in a row now. (I love them.)

* I also had to buy a new bag large enough to carry my new Amazon Kindle Fire HD 8.9-inch device. Granted, it will not get here until the end of November or beginning of December, but I still need to prepare, you know. (Hah!) The bag, also came from Kohl's. This is the only place I buy purses/bags. I love the RELIC line. They last forever. I am too cheap to buy FOSSIL. But, I want the bag to last. The bag, granted, looks less 70's than my new tops. It has some blue thrown in. Whew. But, it has all of the colors of the shirts I listed above.

* Is it after Thanksgiving yet? I am sorry. I am impatient and want my new Kindle HD. Sigh.

* I am on a hunt to find sugar free pumpkin syrup to add to my coffee. Hopefully that will be found sooner rather than later.

* I am re-reading the North and South Trilogy by John Jakes. (Love it!) He is, after all, the one I hope to write like, except in my own quirky and corny way. (Also, Herman Wouk and his WINDS OF WAR and WAR AND REMEMBRANCE, but of a different time-frame.)

* I guess I have babbled long enough and need to get writing.

Talk to you later.

Why the Amazon Kindle Fire HD LTE 4G?

The Amazon Kindle Fire 2011 version is a WiFi only device. That brings limitations. For instance: I MUST have a Wi-Fi hotspot or I cannot use anything that connects to the Internet. As a writer who depends on being able to do research at will, it is an issue. Also, the screen size can be limiting.
The Amazon Kindle Fire HD means I can write, and research, ANYWHERE at any time--provided the battery is charged--or I have a charger with me. (It uses the same as my cell phone, so this is quite handy. I have wall and car chargers all over the place, needless to say.)
Also, I can read a book anywhere. This is huge for me. I am always writing or reading, after all.
I will be counting down the days!
And! I am getting a PERSIMMON cover for it, too. (Orange, for the more simple, like me.) It will be pretty!
I will let you know what I think of it.

Amazon Fire HD

It was Christmas 2008 when my life changed.
That was when I got my first Amazon Kindle. It was the Kindle 2. My husband spoiled me and bought it for me.
The question at that point was: Could I make the change from paper books to digital books.
I collect books. If you were to come to my house, you would see 10 bookshelves JAMMED pack with books. I am talking multiple layers. (And, this is after 6 rounds of a ?Highlander full of books going to Goodwill and other used stores.
Why get rid of books? I have made the change. I am ALL in with digital books, apart from my 1st edition hardbound Harry Potter books from America and my hardbound English version as well (bought in England).
I am addicted to digital books.
If I find a free book I might read one day, I buy it. With digital, you do not have to worry about shelf space at home (need I mention moving them?!? My back aches just thinking about that.).
Then, last year for Thanksgiving, my husband bought me the Amazon Kindle Fire. (Can you see where this blog is going?) I have LOVED it. Loved it. LOVED IT! Although, there is  one major problem about the Amazon e-readers, opposed to paper books. However, the Fire has more of a problem than the Kindle 2. The problem: When reading in bed, if you fall asleep, and the device falls and hits your forehead, IT HURTS. The fire weighs more than the Kindle 2. But a book hitting your forehead is not as bad as either one of them. (Please tell me I am not the only one who has this problem!)
I digress.
So, of course, my husband is getting me another new Thanksgiving present... The Amazon Kindle Fire 8.9" 4G LTE Wireless device!!!
Sigh. (You know... The sigh of a groupie of a rockstar or famous author. That sigh.)
Do I need to mention how much I love my husband? Would you believe this is a man who does not even ask: "Why will this be better than the Fire I got you a year ago?"? No. He does not. He gets it for me anyway. Bless him.
I cannot wait to get it!
