Blessings Journaling

Rather than do what is called gratitude journaling, do Counting of Blessings Journaling (or Blessings Journaling).

The difference between the two is the second recognizes what God has done in one's life, around one's life, and through one's life.

JOURNALING EXERCISE OR PROMPT FOR 2013
Count the Blessings in your life each and every day all year long in 2013. Write at least 3 each day.

Most of the blessings you count, by the way, are memories. Therefore, you might want to write more about them later. This is another way to leave your legacy.

And, just think--if you're having a rough day, you can always look at the blessings you had before and it should re-motivate you and help you find blessings on those challenging days.

TIME OFF--EVEN FROM JOURNALING

While it is true that I journal every day, I also think that it is imperative to take some time off from everything every now and then--and I mean everything. I call it my extended Sabbath and/or vacation. It is important to refuel and recharge.

The last few months have been a busy time for my husband and me. Actually, busy does not quite cut it in description. We have been slammed. We have barely had time to breathe.

Needless to say, we have taken some desperately needed time off from everything. It has been quite delightful for this four day weekend. We have been able to sit on our rears and watch movies, read, enjoy one another's company, and relax. That has been a blessing.

I even took time off from journaling. Gulp. Yep. I sure have. I needed it, believe it or not. Time off from everything is sometimes more important so we can put more of our heart and soul into things later. This was one of those times.

That being said, it was not easy. I have felt a chunk of my heart was missing because I took time off from journaling. But, it was worth it. Do you want to know why? It's because I have more to offer my journaling this next week. I will be refreshed and ready to tackle preparation for the New Year.

The Journey of a Journal

The best journey we can go on in our lives is in our journals. It is the best exploration we can do and is worth every moment.

A Change of Life

A journal can change your life--if you let it.

The question is, will you? Will you let your journal change you? Will you do what it takes to let your journal change your life?

Journaling, every day, as much as possible--and reviewing and evaluating your experiences and lessons learned is the key.

Journaling daily: A lesson learned the hard way

A lesson learned long ago, and the hard way, about journaling was to journal immediately when I go through a rough patch in my life. Journaling helps me get through the difficult or dark time. There have been times in my life when the pain is so acute because of a situation that I have not journaled--and I regretted it deeply later. I've had to pay for it, as a matter of fact. I seem to have the God-given talent for making things far more difficult on myself than they need to be in the first place. Hence, when I journal through these times, I am able to gain a clearer, fresh perspective, where I can think more with logic ad lean less on emotion.

Therefore, I've learned to journal through the tough stuff--as well as through the sunny days.

During the sunny days, the happier ones, I tend to get so focused on them that I put off journaling and then only journal when I can fit it into my schedule. This bites me as well because I am only journaling part of the time and missing a lot of journaling material in my life.

Journaling, for me, is a daily MUST do--and I journal all day long as I do whatever it is I am doing. It makes life simpler, more focused, and I leave my legacy in the meanwhile.

Immediate Results: Never Cease

Rarely are our prayers given immediate results. That's not to say it doesn't happen, but it's rare.

Sometimes, it might takes days, weeks, months, and even decades.

In those cases, we typically will cease praying, or will want to do so. But, do not. God answers all prayers and will answer yours. It just takes time. Never give up. Pray harder and more often--rather than ceasing.
